How come when Elvis first came out, he was considered immoral, but nowaday most people aren't offended anymore?

It seems like we become desensitized to things, since in the 1950's people were scandalized by Elvis' jerky movements and seductive ways of singing and moaning. Do you think we've become desensitized?
