What type of Guitar should I purchase for the first guitar?

I've played multiple instruments (first piano, then cello, now flute) and I've been playing my flute now for three years. I'm not interested in symphonic band anymore and I'd like to try guitar. I've always liked guitars because of the many genres you can go into. I was thinking about getting a hohner HW300 dreadnought acoustic guitar, but I'm not that experienced with guitars. I've looked at the reviews and it sounds like a good choice. Should I go see it in person and test it out? Or ask a teacher or professional? Also, if I DO get the guitar (or another one) would it be easier to take lessons from a musician or just learn it on my own? What is your preference?
